Scope and Contents
Letter from WSC (35A Great Cumberland Place [London]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] in which he discusses the content of her magazine ["The Anglo-Saxon Review"]; a dinner with [1st] Lord Rothschild and [Emma] Lady Rothschild where he met [Arthur] Balfour, [Herbert] Asquith [later Lord Oxford and Asquith] and Lord Acton; and the progress of his book "The River War" and Miss [Pamela] Plowden [later Lady Lytton]'s approval of the first two chapters. In a postscript he asks "Do you see I am no longer a soldier?".
