Scope and Contents

Letter from WSC (Government House, Bombay [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] describing his journey from Peshawar, making observations on the situation in Egypt and the relationship between Sir Herbert Kitchener and the Dervishes, speculating that he may be too late for a campaign on the Nile, the progress of the frontier war and the Zakka Khel tribe. He also discusses the publication of ["The Story of the Malakand Field Force"] and the ignorance and carelessness of Moreton Frewen in editing it, and asks her to sell an article "Unus contra mundum" to the Pall Mall [Magazine] and discusses financial affairs. He encloses a newspaper cutting from The Athenaeum of a review of "The Story of the Malakand Field Force" [CHAR 28/24/82-83]. Envelope present.
