Letter from WSC (Camp Peshawar [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] including: his feelings about financial affairs and being liable for her loan; his character; Lady [Mary] Jeune's efforts regarding his possible posting to Egypt; his home sickness; a request that she should write to [George] Brasier-Creagh; his intention that a letter he has written to Lord Charles Beresford [see CHAR 28/24/68-72] should be published; his intervention to prevent General [William] Nicholson committing a "blunder"; Aylmer Haldane's attempts to gain a divorce; and his disappointment at the mistakes [in "The Story of the Malakand Field Force"].
