Letter from WSC (Mamani, Barah Valley [India]) to Lord Charles Beresford in which he discusses criticism of the Tirah campaign. He describes the extensive press coverage of events; the criticism in England of public servants who serve in India; the acceptance of all reports from the frontier; the criticism by some soldiers serving in India of their senior officers; a "higher mood" which also exists in the army which is evidenced by the example of bravery of demonstrated by James Clow; and features of mountain warfare.
