Scope and Contents
Letter from WSC (4th Hussars [Bangalore] India) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] enclosing corrections [CHAR 28/24/6-9] to ["The Story of The Malakand Field Force"] and discussing illustrations and the publication his book. Other subjects include: the meanness of the D[aily] T[elegraph]; the necessity of travelling with an escort; the death of Sir Henry Havelock-Allen; and the Simla [authorities'] refusal to allow him to join Sir Bindon Blood. He asks her to use her influence to secure his posting to Egypt with Sir Herbert Kitchener, reports that he has dislocated his shoulder at polo and discusses the progress of the Tirah campaign. Envelope present.
