Letter from WSC (Bangalore, [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] in which he says that he has injured his knee as a result of a practical joke; thanks her for sending him o50; reports that he has received a letter from [Frances, Duchess of Marlborough]; says that he is impatient to hear details about the possibility of going to Egypt [with Sir Herbert Kitchener]; discusses a future [?polo] tournament, the kindness of "Bill" [Lord William] Beresford and an argument between "Sunny" [Charles, 8th Duke of Marlborough] and Duchess Lily [Lady William Beresford, formerly Lilian, Duchess of Marlborough]; and makes observations on the importance of having an unequalled navy and objections to [Henry, 5th] Lord Lansdowne's speech [as Secretary of State for War] on increasing the army.
