Letter from WSC (Bangalore [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] in which he says that he approved of Sir A[lgernon] West's article about [Lord Randolph Churchill] which appeared in the Nineteenth Century although it made him feel "low and despondent" and comments on a "vicious and insulting" article in Truth [about a scandal in the 4th Hussars]. He reports that he has been occupied with catching butterflies, playing polo and hunting and has received a letter from [William] Bourke Cockran, discusses financial affairs, asks her to persuade others to write to him and comments on the dullness of the social circle in Bangalore.
