Letter from WSC (Bangalore [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] including: the possibility of her getting her money back from [James] Cruickshank who had defrauded them; the arrival of a racing pony "Lily"; discussion of her objections to racing and a request that she should not force him to sell the horse; a description of his journey from Poona [India], where he met Lord Sandhurst, and of the bungalow, which he shares with Hugo [Baring] and [Reginald] Barnes, and domestic arrangements at Bangalore; the likelihood of a famine; a list of the items he would like her to send him; and an assertion that he is practically a teetotaller and a non-smoker "till sundown".
