Scope and Contents

Letter from Lord Randolph Churchill (Mafeking [South Africa]) to [Lady Randolph Churchill] expressing his disappointment at not receiving any letters from her, describing his journey, and commenting on the poor reception of his letters to the Daily Graphic and Sherwood's management of his racing stable. He observes on Arthur Balfour becoming Leader [of the House of Commons] that "Tory Democracy, the genuine article, [is] at an end... I have waited with great patience for the tide to turn but it has not turned and will not turn in my time" and expresses his disgust with politics.
