Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to Acting Prime Minister of Australia [Joseph Chifley] marked "Top Secret" stating that the United States Chiefs of Staff have felt unable to support the early re-occupation of Nauru and Ocean Islands [Pacific Ocean] and have suggested alternative sources of phosphate, but that Francis Forde's [Deputy Prime Minister of Australia] approach will be "valuable". [repeated to New Zealand government].
