(Untitled), 07 May 1945
Scope and Contents
Telegram from Duff Cooper [later Lord Norwich, British Ambassador to France] to WSC marked "Personal" reporting on French policy towards the Levant States [Syria and the Lebanon]; that General de Gaulle [President of the Provisional Government of the French Republic] regretted Britain moving an extra division into the Lebanon; and was in a bad mood when he drafted his reply to WSC because he had heard that the French zone of occupation in Germany would not include Cologne.
