(Untitled), 01 May 1945
Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander [later Lord Alexander of Tunis, Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre] marked "Guard" and "Personal and Top Secret" seeking clarification of the position concerning the announcement of the surrender of German forces in Italy; requesting information on Alexander's plans for taking Trieste [Italy]; and asserting that he favours the Istrian peninsula remaining in Italy [after the end of hostilities] since this will harm communist influence in that country.
