Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to President Harry Truman marked "Personal and Top Secret" arguing that it is a "delusion" to suppose that the Yugoslav Government [later Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia] would agree to Anglo-American forces taking Venezia Guilia [Italy] including Trieste [Italy], Pola [later Pula, Croatia] and Fiume [later Rijeka, Croatia]; that Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander [later Lord Alexander of Tunis, Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre] should carry out his plans to perform the above "as quickly and secretly as possible"; and commenting on the effect of such action on the Communist movement in Italy.
