Telegram from Foreign Secretary [Anthony Eden, later Lord Avon] (Washington [United States]) to WSC marked "Top Secret and Personal" reporting on a meeting between Vyacheslav Molotov [Soviet Union Foreign Minister], Edward Stettinius [Secretary of State, United States] and himself on Poland: stating that Molotov asked for time to study the joint message sent by President Harry Truman and WSC to Marshal Stalin; describing discussions on the treaty [of mutual assistance] signed by the Soviet Union and the existing Polish Government; and the dangers to the San Francisco [United States] Conference posed by these disputes.
