Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to Marshal Stalin marked "Personal" denying that anything has resulted from contacts between members of Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander's [later Lord Alexander of Tunis, Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre] staff and General Karl Wolff [Military Governor and Head of the SS in Northern Italy]; asserting that the Soviet Union has been fully informed of these developments; that such German contact might be an attempt to create mistrust between the Allies; explaining why HM Government made no response to Vyacheslav Molotov [Soviet Union Foreign Secretary]'s allegations on the above; and stating that these developments have had no effect on the level of resistance shown by the Germans on the Western Front.
