Scope and Contents

Telegram from Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander [later Lord Alexander of Tunis, Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre] and Harold MacMillan [later Lord Stockton, Minister Resident at Allied Force HQ, Mediterranean Command] (Athens [Greece]) to WSC and Foreign Secretary [Anthony Eden, later Lord Avon] marked "Top Secret" giving details of next stage in the military operation [against the Communist rebels] in Attica, Pelopennese, Salonica and Corfu [all Greece]; stating that it is not intended for British troops to clear rebels from the north of Greece; and recommending increasing the size of Greek National Guard battalions and enlisting a National Army.
