Prime Minister's printed personal minutes, May 1945. Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: senior civil servants, including Sir Edward Bridges [Secretary to the War Cabinet]; the Chief Whip [James Stuart]; members of the Cabinet and other government ministers; General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence]; the Chiefs of Staff; "C" [Major General Sir Stewart Menzies, Head of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service]. Subjects covered by the minutes include: relations with France over the Levant states [Syria and the Lebanon]; the end of the U-boat war; the RAF taking part in the war on Japan; medals; matters concerning the surrender and administration of Germany; the dispute with Yugoslavia [later Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia] over Venezia Guilia, Italy; repairs to 10 Downing Street; the electoral register; the Caretaker government; re-deploying and demobilising troops; matters to be discussed [at the forthcoming meeting between President Harry Truman, Marshal Stalin and WSC] particularly disagreements with the Soviet Union; food supplies; Polish affairs; honours.
