Minute from WSC to General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence] stating that he does not think Ismay's file of correspondence about Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred Wise [Conservative MP for Smethwick, Staffordshire] is complete as Ismay had informed WSC and Wise of an appointment he was to have in connection with German prisoners. He refers to the delays and eventual cancellation and states, "I do not like being put in the position with Members of Parliament that I tell them they are to be appointed, and afterwards it is all deflected and turned to nothing". He explains that he has told Wise his instructions will be carried through and instructs Ismay to give the necessary instructions and tell Wise the position. He refers to a paragraph in Wise's letter which indicates that Wise had been informed of selection for a post by the Military Secretary on 10 Feb. [Initialled carbon].
