Letter from Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred Wise [Conservative MP for Smethwick, Staffordshire] to WSC explaining that after his previous correspondence with WSC he had been selected for the post of GSO, Direction and Plans PW at SHAEF [Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force], that initially he had been told that he was waiting for his predecessor to be released, but that yesterday he had telephoned again and been told that the release of his predecessor had been turned down about a week ago and that the post was no longer vacant. He mentions that he had cancelled all engagements in his constituency and comments on the discourtesy to WSC and the disregard of WSC's wishes "which is improper in any service department after their experiences in this war".
