Letter from Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred Wise [Conservative MP for Smethwick, Staffordshire] (75 Mount Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells [Kent]) to WSC referring to their conversation in the lobby [of the House of Commons] the previous day and expressing his desire "to get back to an active part in the battle before the war is finished". He comments on his experience, his previous commanders, and the capacity in which he might serve. [Typescript copy] With letter "B" appended at top of first page, and annotation of 27 Jan by WSC to General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence] "do what you can".
