The passage describes the address to the populace of the Roman Consul, Lucius Aemilius Paulus in 168 BC. In the speech, Paulus refers to the fact that everyone has been talking about how he should conduct the war with the Macedonians, states that he is not too proud to accept advice, but only from people of proven experience or those who share the dangers, and offers his would be advisers the chance to accompany him on the campaign. [Typescript] With annotation by WSC indicating that Steward should be thanked, and further annotation by George Dodds [Prime Minister's Private Secretary] indicating that this had been done.
