Scope and Contents

Telegram from Lord Halifax [earlier Edward Wood, then Lord Irwin, British Ambassador to the United States] to WSC marked "most immediate" and "personal and secret" reciting text of message from Harry Hopkins [Special Adviser and Assistant to the President of the United States] to WSC. Hopkins states that Halifax had told him WSC might be here [United States], in which case Hopkins would see him. "I still find it difficult to believe that our gallant friend has gone". With annotations in red ink, probably by WSC.
