(Untitled), 02 Jul 1945
Scope and Contents
Copy of letter from David Robertson [Conservative MP for Streatham, London] (34, South Molton Street, W1 [London]) to WSC enclosing 2 letters he has received from a constituent, Mrs C Gentry, in April last along with a copy of the reply he received from the War Office on 26 June. Comments on the particular case of Mrs Gentry and her sons. States that, "I hardly think it is good enough to keep these fellows away from their homes and people at this stage of the war" and suggests that the army in Italy can be got from men under and over 30 who have been at home all the time. Reminds WSC of last war when recruits from Scotland were sent out "to your old Division, and to mine, within 10 weeks of being called up, and they were rattling good soldiers too". [Carbon].
