Scope and Contents
Note [based on letter from Sir James Grigg, Secretary of State for War, to WSC replying to comments made by David Robertson, Conservative MP for Streatham, London]. States that complaint that overseas service is too long was dealt with by Grigg in statement to the House of Commons on 8 June. States that the reasons for not calling up men in reserved occupations at home and over 30 years of age were explained by the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Labour [Malcolm McCorquodale] in the debate of 31 May. Comments on the plan for short leave from the Mediterranean theatres and the main difficulties in the way of immediate large scale releases. [Typescript].
