Letter from John Colville [Prime Minister's Private Secretary] to Roderick Barclay (Foreign Office) marked "private and personal" enclosing a copy of a letter that has been sent to Lord Robert Innes-Ker [see CHAR 20/197B/230], who had applied for a Vice-Consulate in the South of France, and stating that, "Lord Robert is 59 and has a 'past'. Nobody who knows him, would, for a moment, consider him suitable for any such employment". [carbon].
