Letter from Wilson Harris [Editor of the Spectator] (The Spectator, 99 Gower street, London, WC1 )to John Colville [Prime Minister's Private Secretary] requesting permission to quote from some of WSC's letters in J A Spender's papers in his forthcoming biography of Spender. He states that the letters are, "so far as I remember", pre-1914, and that the most interesting one was written while WSC was on a tour of the Nile [Egypt] in 1907 describing the prospects for democracy and outlining the social reform programme. Signed typescript. Annotated by WSC indicating his desire to see the text of the letters.
