He refers to the condition of the house and garden, and states that the "Boche" occupied it but took nothing except WSC's painting of the swimming pool and the volumes of Marlborough which WSC had given to Maxine Elliot [Maxine Eliott]. "It all looked somewhat sad. The local French are terribly hungry.".
