Letter from Violet, Lady Bonham Carter [earlier Violet Asquith and Violet, Lady Bonham Carter, later Lady Asquith of Yarnbury] (40 Gloucester Square, W2 [London]) to WSC regretting that they will be fighting the election "under different flags": states that she could never go into action "side by side with Sir Herbert Williams & Co." and argues that WSC should have remained a "National Leader - above the battle"; criticizes the timing of the election and argues that the coalition should have been held together until Autumn or Winter; comments humorously on some of the political figures supporting WSC including Thelma Cazalet [Keir] and the National Liberals under Harry Rosebery [6th Lord Rosebery] [signed typescript].
