(Untitled), 29 May 1945
Scope and Contents
Copy of a letter from WSC to Ernest Bevin marked "private and personal" asking him for permission to submit his name for a Companionship of Honour in recognition for his services at the Ministry of Labour. He explains that [Clement] Attlee has agreed that his own name may be put forward and that the award does not confer a title on the recipient and adds "as far as I can see, having already borne it myself for a quarter of a century, it is no serious burden." Unsigned carbon. Additional copy at CHAR 20/194A/52.
