Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander [later Lord Alexander of Tunis, Commander of the Allied Armies in Italy] marked "Personal and Top Secret" expressing dismay at the conversion of the 4th Queen's Own Hussars [of whom WSC is Colonel] into infantry carriers; stating that following Alexander's forthcoming promotion to Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre he would like him to visit London; and that General Dwight Eisenhower [Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force in Western Europe, United States Army] approves Lieutenant General Lucian Truscott taking over Command of the United States Fifth Army.
