Telegram from President Roosevelt to WSC marked "Personal and Top Secret" approving General Sir Henry Wilson [later 1st Lord Wilson, Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre] succeeding Field Marshal Sir John Dill as Representative of the British Chiefs of Staff in Washington [United States]; with Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander [later Lord Alexander of Tunis, Commander of the Allied Armies in Italy] succeeding Wilson as Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre and General Mark Clark [Commander of United States Fifth Army] taking command of the Group of Armies on the Italian Front.
