Prime Minister's printed personal minutes, March 1944.Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: members of the Cabinet and other government ministers, particularly Foreign Secretary [Anthony Eden, later 1st Lord Avon]; senior civil servants, including Sir Edward Bridges [Secretary to the War Cabinet]; General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence]; the Chiefs of Staff; Major-General Leslie Hollis [Military Assistant Secretary to the War Cabinet]; Director of Military Intelligence [Major-General Francis Davidson].Subjects covered by the minutes include: arrangements for the main offensive against Japan, including in the Indian theatre; ownership of oil interests; French civil affairs; relations with Marshal Tito [Premier of Yugoslavia, later Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia]; diplomatic affairs, including the proposed transfer of Sir Victor Mallet [British Minister in Sweden]; the 4th Hussars; information becoming known about "Overlord" [invasion of France]; relief for liberated Europe; differences with the United States; Russo-Polish relations concerning the western border of the Soviet Union; an apology to [Dwight] Eisenhower for the behaviour of Captain Liddell Hart.
