Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to Marshal Stalin marked 'personal and most secret' reporting that the Nazi-Fascist forces are falling back to Enfidaville [Enfida, Tunisia], that the Eighth Army is pushing northwards, that over 200,000 of the enemy are "in the net", 25,000 prisoners taken and 5-10,000 killed; on successful air raids on Duisberg and Frankfurt [Germany] of which he has sent a film and photographs to please the Russian soldiers; and his hopes to push some fast ships to the Persian Gulf carrying special priority cargoes including drugs and medical appliances purchases by CSC's Fund. He notes that the [Aid to Russia] Fund will shortly reach 3,000,000 pounds and is proof of "the warm regard of the British people for the Russian people". Typescript.
