Telegram from [Richard Casey] Minister of State [Middle East] to WSC marked 'personal and most secret' on subjects including: the satisfactory maintenance position of the Eighth Army; the need for petrol drums for Husky [codename for the capture of Sicily]; progress planning armed assistance to Turkey; co-ordination of military and civil supplies to Turkey and the limits of the transport in Turkey; SOE (MO4) [Special Operations Executive] activities sabotaging chrome output in Greece and derailments in Serbia, dropping officers and ammunition into Greece and laying mines in the Corinth Canal; a reorganisation of the political intelligence work at the Middle East Intelligence Centre for better planning of operations against the Balkans; internal affairs in Libya; the need to keep pressure on Egypt in order to feed the Middle East and Persia/Iran; his poor opinion of [Emmanuel] Tsouderos [Prime Minister of Greece]; anxiety about difficulties between [Wladyslaw] Anders and General [Wladislaw] Sikorski [Polish Prime Minister in exile in London]; and plans for conferences.
