Some written by WSC when in Canada and the United States.Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: senior civil servants, particularly Sir Alexander Cadogan [Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs]; General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence]; members of the Cabinet and other government ministers; President Roosevelt; Harry Hopkins [Special Adviser and Assistant to the President of the United States]; the Chiefs of Staff; Major-General Leslie Hollis [Military Assistant Secretary to the War Cabinet]; Desmond Morton [Prime Minister's Personal Assistant].Subjects covered by the minutes include: honouring anti-aircraft gunners; civil aviation matters; floating airfields; Italian prisoners of war; report by Sir Robert Craigie on the reasons for the war with Japan; senior naval appointments; matters concerning the "Overlord" [invasion of France] command; planned operations against Japan, including "Culverin" [attack on the Japanese-held Dutch East Indies, later Indonesia]; the possible German withdrawal from Greece; negotiations with Portugal.
