(Untitled), 29 Apr 1943
Scope and Contents
Telegram from BAD, Washington DC [United States] to Sir Dudley Pound (1st Sea Lord) stating that Field Marshal Sir John Dill [Head of British Joint Staff Mission, Washington] has been in hospital for 3 weeks for an operation and hopes to leave hospital on 3 May (although he has been prescribed 2 weeks rest). He adds that if the visit from Field Marshal Sir Archibald Wavell [Supreme Commander American British Dutch and Australasian Command] takes place as planned this will disrupt Dill's rest which may lead to future illness and asks whether it would be possible for Wavell to stay in England for longer.
