Telegram from WSC [Cairo, Egypt] to Deputy Prime Minister [Clement Attlee] marked "most secret and personal" reciting the text of the announcement regarding the changes in command in the Middle East : Refers to the appointment of General Harold Alexander as Commander in Chief Middle East in succession to General Claude Auchinleck; the appointment of Lieutenant-General Bernard Montgomery as General Officer Commanding Eighth Army in succession to Lieutenant-General Neil Ritchie; the appointment of Major-General Richard McCreery as Chief of General Staff, Middle East Forces in succession to Lieutenant-General Thomas Corbett.
