Scope and Contents

Telegram from WSC to President Roosevelt marked "personal and most secret" regarding his thoughts on the "present difficulties" with the French in North West Africa and commenting on the status of the British and American armies, the role of General Henri Giraud, the creation of a civil regime, his anxiety over the military situation, the British advance on Tripoli [Libya], and the pressure that is being put on General Charles De Gaulle [Leader of the Free French] " to shut his Brazzaville mouth".
