Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to the Duke of Windsor [formerly King Edward VIII] marked "most secret and personal" and "To be deciphered by his Personal Private Secretary only " stating that he has laid his wish before the King [George VI] who is not prepared to take any action and stating that it would be impossible for him [WSC] to move the War Cabinet in that direction and that he would "deprecate even bringing the matter before them." Initialled.
