Telegram from WSC to Field Marshal Sir John Dill [Representative of the British Chiefs of Staff in Washington, United States] marked "personal and secret" asking him to privately inform General George Marshall [Chief of Staff United States Army] that they are thinking on the same lines and commenting on future joint military operations including "Brimstone" [Codename for Allied landings in Sardinia] and "Husky" [Codename for Allied landings in Sicily] which should only be undertaken if "we are absolutely sure that we cannot assume the major role in the Channel and thereabouts.".
