Scope and Contents
Telegram from Field Marshal Sir John Dill [Representative of the British Chiefs of Staff in Washington] to WSC marked "private" informing him that Admiral William Leahy [Chief of Staff to the President of the United States] had told Dill that President Roosevelt had accepted the idea of making a record for "Aspidistra" [British radio transmitter] and reporting that Leahy thought Roosevelt would say something in French on the lines of the message to be issued by General Dwight D Eisenhower [Supreme Allied Commander Mediterranean Theatre].
