Scope and Contents
Telegram from WSC to General Sir Claude Auchinleck [Commander in Chief Middle East] marked "personal" informing him that the only way a sufficient army can be gathered in the northern theatre of the Middle East is if Auchinleck defeats or destroys the army of General Erwin Rommel [Commander German North Afrika Korps] in the western desert: states that if Auchinleck does not succeed we shall continue to be dependent on the Russian front but that if he does succeed, and the Russian front holds, "Acrobat" [codename for operation against Tripoli, Libya] will again come under consideration.
