Telegram from WSC to General Sir Claude Auchinleck [Commander in Chief Middle East] marked "personal": reassures Auchinleck that he should "not have the slightest anxiety about the course of affairs at home" and that he has "my entire confidence"; comments on plans for United States aid to Middle East; expresses concern about reports of "undue despondency and alarm in Alexandria" [Egypt]; hopes that the crisis will lead to all uniformed personnel in the Delta and all local manpower being raised to the highest fighting condition; "Every fit male should be made to fight and die for victory.".
