Telegram from General Sir Claude Auchinleck [Commander- in-Chief Middle East] and Air Marshal Sir Arthur Tedder [Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Mediterranean] to WSC marked "most secret" on problems in obtaining accurate information about army losses; estimating Allied losses of 10,000 men (8,000 of whom are believed to have been taken prisoner), enemy prisoners of 3,993, enemy tank losses of 400, Allied tank losses of 350; and giving details of reinforcements to the Eighth army and enemy and Allied air losses.
