Letter [with copy] from the Duke of Windsor [Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Bahamas, earlier King Edward VIII and Edward, Prince of Wales] to WSC requesting royal rank to be granted to Wallis, Duchess of Windsor [earlier Wallis Simpson] in the New Year's Honours List, and also referring to the death of [George, Duke of Kent] and racial disturbances in the Bahamas, deploring self-determination for "negro populations" and enquiring about the prospects of being given a more stimulating post; with telegram from WSC advising that Windsor's request has been laid before King George VI, but will not be acted upon; also includes covering correspondence between Sir Alexander Hardinge [Private Secretary to the King], John Martin and Leslie Rowan [Private Secretaries to WSC] and Colin Thornley [Assistant Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for the Colonies].
