Telegram from WSC to Major-General Sir Claude Auchinleck [Commander-in-Chief, Middle East] on the impossibility of explaining how the British Middle East Armies have had to stand for four and a half months without engaging the enemy while the Soviet Union is being battered to pieces; also has informed the President of the United States [Franklin Roosevelt] of date of campaign via the Lord Privy Seal [Clement Attlee] and asked for extra United States troops for future relief of British forces in Northern Ireland.
