Prime Minister's printed personal minutes, July 1941.Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence]; members of the Cabinet and other government ministers; 1st Lord Cherwell [earlier F A Lindemann] and Desmond Morton [Prime Minister's Personal Assistants]; Colonel Ian Jacob [Military Assistant Secretary to the War Cabinet]; senior civil servants including Sir Edward Bridges [Secretary to the War Cabinet]; Conservative Party officials.Subjects covered by the minutes include: providing information on changes in the government and military command; the strength of home forces; Turkish affairs; food supplies and shortages; Syria; the army structure; the Fleet's defence capability against air attack; the U-boat position; military equipment available in the Middle East; British assistance to the Soviet Union in the Arctic; the possibility of a German airborne attack on Britain and defending airfields; neutralising German radio beam bombing; numbers of aircraft and pilots; the military situation in north Africa and the Mediterranean; the Duke of Windsor [earlier Edward Prince of Wales and Edward VIII], Governor [and Commander in Chief] of the Bahamas; United States supply of aircraft; by-elections; bomb technology; honours and relations with France and Vichy-France.
