Prime Minister's printed personal minutes, March 1941.Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence]; members of the Cabinet and other government ministers; the Chiefs of Staff; senior civil servants including Sir Edward Bridges [Secretary to the War Cabinet], Sir Horace Wilson [Permanent Secretary of HM Treasury and official Head of HM Civil Service], and Sir Alexander Cadogan [Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs]; F A Lindemann [later 1st Lord Cherwell] and Desmond Morton [Prime Minister's Personal Assistants].Subjects covered by the minutes include: the scope of the Director of Combined Operations' responsibilities; ranks of RAF officers in the Ministry of Aircraft Production; naval and shipping matters, including developments in the Battle of the Atlantic; army scales; matters concerning a possible invasion of Britain; communications with the United States; military aviation developments; King Carol [II] of Romania; the naval blockade against unoccupied (Vichy) France; service economies; the military situation in the Mediterranean; the results of a British invasion exercise "Victor".
