Prime Minister's printed personal minutes, July 1940.Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence]; the Chiefs of Staff; members of the Cabinet and other government ministers; Sir Edward Bridges [Secretary to the War Cabinet]; F A Lindemann [later 1st Lord Cherwell] and Desmond Morton [Prime Minister's Personal Assistants]; Commander-in-Chief, Home Forces [General Alan Brooke, later 1st Lord Alanbrooke]; and 2 minutes from Lindemann on exports and tea rationing.Subjects covered by the minutes include: British naval operations against the French Fleet; a message to the armed services on morale; General Charles de Gaulle's role with anti-German French troops; senior military and political appointments; the new aircraft programme; protecting Britain against the possibility of German invasion; British bomber losses; the naval position in the Mediterranean; the possibility of attacking German-occupied territories; foreign corps in the United Kingdom; the Japanese threat; French possessions in north Africa.
