(Untitled), 19 Mar 1915 - 22 Mar 1915
Scope and Contents
Letter from [Alexander] Filson Young [staff of Vice-Admiral Sir David Beatty], HMS Princess Royal, to Edward Marsh [Private Secretary to WSC], enclosing a copy of an American article "The North Sea Fight" on how a British force abandoned pursuit of German cruisers because of the presence of enemy submarines. Includes notes between Marsh, WSC and the Naval Secretary, Captain Allan Everett commenting that the letter was probably inspired by Beatty, and that the article would attract little attention in Britain, with WSC asking Marsh to "shut Young up" adding that he was "very partial to the use of Christian names".
